Overview

The Eazy Stitch™ Kidz programmes have been running since 2006 and was specially developed for the South-African child, to develop a love for crafts and needlework. With time we expanded to various schools in the Western Cape, Gauteng and Eastern Cape. Educators are trained and licensed to present the different programmes. Thus far we have achieved amazing results with the programmes.

PROJECTS: Hand sewing, embroidery, French Knitting, knitting, crochet, platting, weaving, beading, fabric paint & dye work, sewing on machines and over-lockers.

Eazy Stitch™ Kidz consists of four programmes : Learners master a wide variety of needlework and hand craft techniques, applicable to their age.

  1. GR. R. PROGRAMME: Grade R learners makes crafts eazy.
  2. BEGINNERS PROGRAMME: Grade 1–3 learners do basic handwork & sewing crafts.
  3. INTERMEDIATE PROGRAMME: Grade 3 and older do more advanced handwork & sewing crafts.
  4. SEWING ACADEMY: 10 yrs and older working on sewing machines and overlockers to master basic techniques. Mommys and Grannys welcome too.

Advantages for the child:

  • Enhancement of sustained attention and discernment.
  • Development of fine-motor skills. Eazy Stitch™ Kidz craft classes is the ideal alternative for children who need extra fine motor skills stimulation.
  • Development of eye-hand co-ordination..
  • Improvement of sensory modalities i.e. tactile sensation.
  • Creates the opportunity to practice problem-solving skills.
  • The learner masters a wide variety of craft & needlework techniques.
  • Encourages social development and group interaction.
  • Development of creative life skills for future entrepreneurs.
  • Learner takes all completed items home.

Every lesson has been formulated and tested to meet the preferences and abilities of the learners and the programmes have been extensively evaluated by a registered occupational therapist. The Eazy Stitch™ Kidz handcrafts programme is a modern, “funky” programme and totally different to the old-fashioned needlework / handwork that was taught at SA schools years ago. Not only does the programme stimulate the learners’ fine motor skills, but also awakens entrepreneurial skills, as all the items that we make are easily sold at informal and craft markets.
